A Semester for the Books!

Hello Listserv, welcome back to our newsletter! It might be nearing the end of the semester at Boston College, but this is only the beginning for Vitaliti! Keep reading to learn about our most recent projects and events, our Spring semester interns, as well as a few exciting announcements!

ACC InVenture Competition Update

We had the privilege of representing Boston College at the 2023 ACC InVenture Prize Competition on March 30th, which brings together the best student entrepreneurs within the ACC.

We presented Spore on live TV and had the honor of competing against 12 of the 15 ACC schools. While at Florida State University, we enjoyed networking with the other talented teams, touring the Florida State facilities, as well as exploring Tallahassee.

After a few practice runs of the show at WFSU Public Media Studios, we aired live on PBS. We are grateful to be recognized as semi finalists and to share our company’s story.

None of this would’ve been possible without our extensive network at Boston College, specifically the Shea Center for nominating us and Dean Devoy for giving us the opportunity to meet through Design for ImpACCt — not to mention each of your votes for the People’s Choice. Thank you, we are extremely blessed to have so many people supporting our endeavor.

Finally, congratulations to the ACC InVenture Prize winner, John from Notre Dame — with LifeDrive!

Demo Day Update

On April 14th, our team participated in the Boston College Shea Center’s Demo Day! During the event, we not only got to pitch Spore but also hear from many other amazing startups from Boston College students. As a special treat, co-founder, Andrea, visited from New York to help with the pitch and took some of the team out to dinner (silly picture below)!

The opportunity to pitch and market Spore, network with other BC teams and administrators, hand out Spore merch, and grow closer as a team from Demo Day makes it a highlight of the semester for each of us.

Strakosch Results

That being said, the real highlight of our semester is definitely May 1st, when co-founder, Zarah Lakhani, pitched Spore at the Boston College Shea Center’s Strakosch Venture Competition, winning 1st place and $10,000! We are honored to have won the competition and proud of our hard-working team (shoutout to intern, Teddy, for pitching at the Strakosch semi-finals as well)!

Thank you to the Shea Center for hosting this event, each amazing, passionate group that pitched, and all of our mentors and supporters that have continued to believe in our mission and vision throughout our entire journey! We cannot wait to see what is in store for Vitaliti next!

Meet the Interns

This semester, we had the pleasure of welcoming four Boston College students to the team as interns! We are so grateful for all of their hardwork and dedication to our mission these last few months.

• Jack (MCAS ‘24)— Economics major and finance minor; hopes to work in the VC/Startup space or in sports management; gym rat and European fanatic along with a love for aviation.

• Teresa (LSOEHD ‘24)— Elementary Education and Applied Psychology double major with a TELL concentration; aspires to be a Special Education teacher in Boston; currently loving Gilmore Girls, BodyPump, and Pinterest boards

• Teddy (CSOM ‘24)— Finance and Political Science double major; interested in the startup space as well as sports business; loves working out, music, and sports analytics.

• Ishaan (MCAS ‘24)— Criminal Justice major with a minor in business and theology on the pre law track; hopes to be the senator for the State of Massachusetts one day; recently picked up Judo as a new hobby and love chess, coffee and anime.
